Ruth Elaine Sills (Petitt) was born on September 20 th , 1935 in Beaumont, Texas. As the fourth of five children, she enjoyed her summers on the family farm in Kirbyville, TX. She grew up in Houston, TX and attended Sam Houston High school. Ruth's first and favorite job was the elevator operator at the Prudential building in downtown Houston. She soon met the love of her life, Jay W. Sills. They were married for 54 years and had 6 children. Together they built a life that left a legacy of love, prayer, laughter, and family. She enjoyed traveling the world with friends and family. She supported all her families' many different activities and never missed a nail appointment. She was the life of the party on any dance floor, but she was most known for her love for Jesus.
Ruth is survived by her two sisters, Dorothy Burch and Lavonne (Kenneth) Self; her sister-in-law Diana (Johnny) Kubena; her children, Gary (Mona) Sills, Cheryl (Randy) Smith, Cindy (Jim) Pool, Sallie Sills and Callie Kirkham; her 16 grandchildren along with their spouses and 31 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Jay W. Sills and first-born infant son, Terry; her parents and in-laws; brother, sister, brother-in-laws, great grandson, and many other loved ones.
Ruth danced her way into the arms of Jesus on May 28 th , 2021. Her Celebration of Life will be on Monday, June 7 th , 2021 at The Chapel at Champion Forest Baptist Church (15555 Stuebner Airline Rd, Houston, TX 77069). Visitation will start at 10AM. Service will begin at 11AM.
