Ruth Ann Mische's Obituary
Ruth Ann Mische born on November 6,1946 passed away on May 22, 2019. She survived myeloma for over ten years thanks to the world class care she received at MD Anderson. However, a rather sudden combination of several issues, all complications or side effects of myeloma, conspired to overwhelm her and the best efforts of several physicians in multiple fields to save her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eileen McGee, of Viburnum, Missouri and is survived by her husband, Gary, daughter Dana Christine Braeden of Houston, son Dr. Brian Mitchell Revelle of Round Rock and her step-son Ryan Edwin Mische of Las Cruces New Mexico. Ruth has four grandchildren, Rylee Marie Braeden, Olivia Ainsley Revelle, and Tawnie and Kyle Mische.
Raised in Leadwood, Missouri, Ruth attended Bonterre High School and eventually moved to Houston in 1973. She attained an LVN certificate from what is now Lone Star College. Given her intelligence and marvelous ability to work with people, Ruth was given the opportunity to move into hospital administration eventually becoming Director of Marketing and Physician Services. Ruth also managed the volunteers and seniors group at Parkway Hospital, positions she held for over twenty years. Later, she did 4-5 years stints as Director of Volunteer Services at Bayshore Medical Center, St Joseph Hospital and West Houston Medical Center where she retired in 2009 shortly after being diagnosed with Myeloma.
Ruth was the glue that held the family together insisting on feeding everyone at every opportunity. Nobody ever turned down a chance to eat her cooking. She was a marvelous chef. There is now a gaping hole in the fabric of the family that will take many years to close. Ruth has chosen to be cremated and will eventually be interred at Houston National Cemetery when her husband of 24 wonderful years, Gary D Mische, passes in the distant future. She has also requested a party be thrown to mark her passing that is to be a joyous celebration of her life by her family and closest friends.
