Ruth was born in Houston, TX, to parents Modesta (Arteaga) and Tony Ramirez. She was the sixth of nine children. She grew up in Houston and lived there until she married the love of her life– Lee Garcia, Sr. on January 30th, 1954. They moved to Buffalo, New York for a very short time until Ruth decided that she preferred warmer weather, and they quickly returned to Houston. They lived in Houston until 1966 when they purchased twenty acres in the Magnolia/Tomball area. They built a home and raised their family on Decker Prairie Rosehill Road. Ruth and Lee enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2018.

Ruth retired from the National Labor Relations Board after 33 years of dedicated service as an executive assistant to the regional director. Prior to her tenure with the Labor Board, she worked for the Houston Police department for 10 years. Ruth was always commended for her work ethic and dedication to her employers.

Ruth was an active member of the St. Anne Catholic Church in Tomball for many years. She made sure her sons attended church regularly, and all served as altar boys.

Ruth was always very active. She played volleyball in high school. She loved to ride her bike. A favorite family activity were long bike rides over to the next town, Rosehill, to visit her brother and his family. She enjoyed walking on her treadmill until her mid-eighties. Even when she moved into a memory care facility, she walked the halls with her walker to get her daily exercise.

Ruth also loved playing the slot machines and she and Lee would frequently take trips to Coushatta and Las Vegas. She enjoyed bowling immensely and thought it was the perfect way to spend time with her beloved family. After Ruth and Lee retired, they bowled in three leagues and savored every frame.

Ruth enjoyed her food and was a self-appointed critic of the cafeteria chain Lubys. She could tell you the good locations and the not-so-good ones. She always got the same Lou-Ann platter of baked fish, steamed broccoli and sweet potatoes. Ruth and Lee always had a big garden. Ruth enjoyed fresh oranges from the back yard tree and cooking fresh vegetables from their garden. She did lots of canning.

Above all else, Ruth loved and fiercely protected her family. She had four sons – Lee Jr., David, Gary, and Charles. She was proud of each of them and the life they made for themselves. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and

always found ways to pay them for help with some small chore. It was Ruth's way of joyfully slipping a little spending money their way.

Ruth was a natural red-headed firecracker. She wanted you to believe her hair was still that beautiful shade of red at age 90!

God speed to our beloved Ruthie – She lived a good life. She loved us all hard and taught us to laugh hard too. She set a wonderful example for each of us. We are so blessed to have been a part of Ruth's life.

Ruth is survived by her sons and their spouses – Lee Jr (Debbie), David (Yvonne), Gary (Mary), Charles (Daniel); six grandchildren Michael, Tommy (Courtney), Jeff (Laura), Jackie, Grant, and Cole; seven great grandchildren – Zachary, Noah, Luke, Gracie, Hudson, Fitz, and Graham. She is also survived by three of her siblings – Carmen Espana, Johnny (Peggy) Rivas, and Gloria Culpepper.
