Russell Joseph Broadbent Jr., affectionately known as "Pops" passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022, at the age of eighty-six. Russell was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 8, 1936. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mary Broadbent, and his loving wife of 50 years Marilyn Miller Broadbent. He is lovingly remembered by his children, daughter Debra Lyn Fitzpatrick and husband Douglas, son Russell Joseph Broadbent III and wife Dawn, son John David Broadbent and wife Esmeralda, and son Paul Warren Broadbent and wife Shannon, grandchildren Alex and Randi Broadbent, Evan Broadbent and fiancé Natalie Suarez, Ashley and Gary Harman, Rebecca and Bryan Kimmy, Matthew and Kayla Broadbent, Devyn Fitzpatrick, Haley Fitzpatrick, Katelin Broadbent, Daniel Broadbent, Kyle Fitzpatrick, Joshua Broadbent, Nathan Broadbent and Alicia Martinez, and great grandchildren Grayson, Austyn, Makala, Mason, Carter, Carmyn, Peyton and Jaxon, as well as many "framily" and friends.
Russell served our nation in the Army as a tabulator machine operator. He worked for Exxon in the credit card division, relocating to Texas in 1978 and retiring after 42 years. He was an avid bowler, organizing and running many bowling leagues both in Philadelphia and Houston, and participated in twenty-five national tournaments. He loved all sports but remained a diehard Eagles and Astros fan.
A celebration of Russell's life will be held at Klein Funeral Park on Friday, September 16, 2022, with visitation at 1:30pm, and a chapel service and interment to follow at 2:30pm
