Rudy M. Lerma passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 29th, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on May 6, 1935 in Silver City, New Mexico to his parents, Carlos P. Lerma and Josepha M. Lerma who preceded him in death.
Rudy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lucy Lerma, who resides in Cypress, Texas, son Michael Lerma and wife Alexandra Lerma, daughter Christal Bordovsky and husband Michael Bordovsky, daughter Valerie Cormier, 5 grandkids Anthony Valentin, Amanda Cormier, Derick Purizaca, Daniel Purizaca, Michael Purizaca, 2 great grandkids Landon Cormier and Cade Valentin.
In 1965 Rudy moved to Southern California and worked as a master machinist while continuing his education to become an aerospace engineer. He worked on many satellite and space shuttle systems and was known for his expertise in quality assurance manufacturing. He retired from Boeing as a senior project manager in 2005.
Rudy and Lucy relocated to Houston, Texas in 2005. Throughout his retirement Rudy enjoyed working on various projects in his garage and traveling with his wife and grandchildren.
Rudy shared his faith with those who knew him. He was very kindhearted and generous. He often helped others with electrical, plumbing, automobile, or carpentry work; a true jack of all trades. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus in California. He will be greatly missed
