Obituary

Ruby Joyce McKinney of Spring, TX passed away on February 20, 2026 at the age of 94. She was born on August 30, 1931, in Rosehill, Texas, as the second child of Herbert Buescher and Emma Kobs Buescher. She graduated from Cypress Fairbanks High School in Cypress, Texas. Ruby was baptized on October 4, 1931 (Mark 10:14). Ruby was confirmed on March 25, 1945 (Revelation 2:10). Ruby married the love of her life, Neal McKinney, on July 16, 1948, and they were wed for 57 years before Neal's passing in 2005. She had her first and only child, David Wayne McKinney, on June 27, 1950. Her favorite Bible verses were Psalms 23 and Psalms 27.

Ruby is survived by her two grandchildren, Brooke Ellen Springman and Andrew Ryan McKinney, as well as her five great-grandchildren, Jade Alexandra Springman, Scarlett Colette Springman, Violet Celeste Springman, Ryder Phoenix Springman, and Alexia Paige Carrizales.

Ruby was a devout and loving Christian, serving others and sharing God's word at Salem Lutheran Church. Ruby had a green thumb and was an avid gardener that won several neighborhood awards including 'yard of the month.' Many friends and neighbors were also lucky to receive delicious treats she made, such as her famous peach preserves made from the fig tree growing in her yard. If she was not growing treats to share with others, she often baked desserts from old family recipes to share with loved ones. To her utmost delight, much of her time the last 14 years was spent with her beloved great grandchildren. She spent countless hours together with them playing games, drawing, singing, teaching them how to cook and bake, reading, and sharing the word of God with them.

Ruby was surrounded by family and friends in her final hours, smiling and laughing, as those who were there recalled and shared wonderful stories about her life. It was very evident with all the love and care she felt as family, friends, and her assisted care staff (whom many she called her best friends) said their goodbyes. She told everyone with a happy heart how much of a beautiful full life she lived and how excited she was to be with Jesus for all eternity.

A memorial service will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball, Texas located at 22601 Lutheran Church Road, Tomball, TX 77377 on March 2 at 11:00AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00PM. There will be a graveside ceremony to follow at the Klein Funeral Home Cemetery.

Any flowers sent will be greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, you are also welcome to send a donation in her honor to Salem Lutheran Church or Salem Lutheran School.
