Obituary

Ruby Jane Knighten, 82, of Houston, Texas passed away March 26, 2025. She was born on November 4, 1942, in Houston to the late James Columbus Peterson and Sudie Florine Peterson.

As the youngest of seven children, Ruby deeply cherished the time spent with her family. A loving wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother, Ruby's greatest joy was being surrounded by her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her warm heart, her comforting hugs, and her unwavering support for her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Hallmark, Karon Hull and son-in-law Jeff Hull, Kimberly James and son-in-law Brice James; step-daughter Suzanne Knighten Toler; and a large, loving family, including grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren. Her grandchildren include David Hallmark Jr., John Thomas Hallmark (spouse Kendra), Tiffany Robinson (spouse Brian), Jeffrey Hull Jr. (spouse Catrina), Jacob Hull (spouse Karyn), Amber Smith (spouse Brendan), Brice James Jr., Kody James, and Brieanna James. Step-grandchildren include Ashley Philpott (spouse Anthony), Shelby Paige Toler, and Colton Obriant. Her great-grandchildren include Samantha Walker, Sarina Hallmark, John Hallmark Jr., Brian Robinson, Christian Robinson, Nathaniel Hull, Zoli Hull, Oliver Hull, Cody Smith, Kambri Smith, and Kylah Smith. Step-great-grandchildren include Mihley Philpott and Melanie Philpott. Ruby is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Dell Peterson and Patsy Peterson.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edgar Donald Knighten; her brothers, Albert James Peterson, Lester Ray Peterson, Donald Odell Peterson, Curtis Wayne Peterson, Kenneth Lee Peterson; her sister, Lavada Maxine Leonard; her son-in-law, William David Hallmark; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Hull.

Ruby's love and legacy will continue to live on through her family, who will forever cherish the memories and the love she poured into them throughout her life.
