ROY MICHAEL WOLKE passed peacefully in his sleep on March 6, 2023, at the age of 93 years.

Roy was born April 20, 1929 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, to Ukrainian immigrants Nick and Cornelia Wolke. Together with his younger sister Theresa, Roy attended Lethbridge schools and had many life-long friends. After graduating from St. Pat's high school, while earning money for college working in the oilfields of Alberta, Roy, a gifted athlete, caught the interest of area scouts and earned a hockey try-out followed by a college scholarship to the University of Denver. Roy graduated DU with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1956. Roy enjoyed an extremely successful career with Dresser Industries and retired in 1997 as Vice President and General Manager of Magcobar Drilling Company. He travelled the world and enjoyed his career immensely developing energy-related projects in the US and Canada, Japan, China, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. The Wolke family moved many times throughout the US and Canada in those early years and finally settled in Houston in the mid-1970s.

Roy's greatest source of pride was his family. He loved one woman his entire life, his high school sweetheart Frances MacDonald Wolke, whom he met at 16 and loved throughout their 51-year marriage until her passing in August 2007. Roy and Frances were married on June 23, 1956, began a family and raised 5 children: Christine Marie Wolke (Kerry Cutting) of Hagatna, Guam, Mary Frances Wolke Mausser (Ric Mausser) of Houston, TX , Michael Roy Wolke (deceased 1983), Terrance Nicholas Wolke (Rhonda Vizza Wolke) of Austin, TX and Alice Marie Wolke (Bill Hazzard) of Frisco, TX; Grandchildren Brittany Wolke Kettle (Kevin Kettle), Hannah Marie Mausser, and John Cutting; great-grandchildren Hadley Kettle and Sloane Kettle. Roy is survived by his children and sister Theresa Wolke Westwood (Gerard Westwood) of Lethbridge Alberta; inlaws Barbara Foltz, Alan MacDonald, Paul and Margaret Nazarchuk, Nadine MacDonald and many loving nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Roy always looked forward, never second-guessing himself, letting slights and decisions remain in the past. He said what he meant and meant what he said, but always with compassion to others. He let his accomplishments speak for him, preferring to share credit rather than take it. Roy was a passionate and accomplished golfer and a member of Champions Golf Club for 41 years, always walking, talking, planning his next shot, where he carried his own clubs into his late 80s. Roy and Frances were life-long Catholics attending regular mass at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Community in Spring, TX.

Roy leaves behind a loving, compassionate legacy for his children and grandchildren. He was a good man who made the world around him a better place. He had a phenomenal memory for names, faces, dates and places - no need to google, just ask Roy. He enjoyed a good cocktail, a good story and a good joke. His absence leaves a void for all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the staff and friends at the Solana Preserve and Claire Bridge at the Solana Vintage Park, who made Roy's last years enjoyable.

A funeral Mass celebrating Roy's life will be held Friday, May 26th at 11:00am at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 7810 Cypresswood Dr. in Spring, TX. Afterwards a reception in his honor at Campioni Restaurant 13850 Cutten Rd. Houston, TX 77069. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Frances and son Michael at Klein Memorial Park 32539 SH 249 in Pinehurst, North of Tomball.
