Obituary

Roy R. Renteria Jr. – Devoted husband, loving father born on June 5th, 1952 returned to God early Wednesday morning November 9th, 2022. He fought long and hard with cancer and other ailments until ultimately, his body could bear no more. We celebrate his life as he is now in paradise, pain free in the presence of the Lord.
Roy was a hardworking, God-fearing man who never knew a challenge he couldn't overcome. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he did everything including welding, truck driving and was in the ministry before deciding on a career in telecommunications to support his family. He remained in this field, working for AT&T until his retirement.
Roy was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. He took many road trips with his wife much to the worry of his children. But he was an adventurer at heart and his family understood this. His true love however, was music. Whether horribly carrying a tune in church or trying to figure out the beat of his favorite song, he always had music on his mind. He played several instruments including the guitar and piano but his favorite by far were the drums. Any two similar objects could be transformed into makeshift drumsticks, any surface into a drum. Always humming and tapping a beat, he never found a song he couldn't play. He had a wide variety of musical tastes and it seemed like he was in a different band for each one. But no matter where he was on his musical journey, he made many friends along the way and many more memories that will live on in his wife and children.
Roy is survived by his wife, Anna and his children, Mateo, Daniel, Ruth and her husband Tim, and one granddaughter Abigail. He is also survived by his three sisters, Elizabeth (Liz), Cindy and Tina. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy (Sr.) and Lucy Renteria as well as his grandparents
