Dr. Roy E. Ladd, kept the faith and finished the race his Lord set before him and was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the age of 96. Roy was born in Harriman, TN on February 18, 1920, the son of Raliegh Elmer Ladd and Harriet Ethel Soloman. Roy married Hazel Delaney in 1940. Shortly thereafter, when Pearl Harbor was attacked, Roy felt the need to help defend his country and he joined the U.S. Army and served during WWII as Radio Operator in Hawaii, where he also taught a Junior Boys Sunday School Class. Following the call of the Lord, he was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel in 1946. Roy graduated from Carson Newman College in 1949 and served as President of his Senior Class. In 1953 Roy graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, while pastoring a small church in North Texas. He then pastored other churches in Jacksboro and Fort Worth, then moved to Baptist Temple in the Houston Heights in 1957, where he served until his retirement in 1982.

Being Mission minded, he led his churches to strongly support both Home Missions as well as Missions abroad. He also led Baptist Temple to sponsor a mission, which quickly became Tallowood Baptist Church. Roy was a man who truly loved the Lord and served Him his entire life. Roy was called by friends "A Man For All Seasons – Preacher, Pastor, Educator, Encourager, Friend." "Countless people were pointed toward Christ, because of his faithful ministry."

Roy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife of almost 50 years, Hazel Delaney Ladd and his youngest daughter, Sarah Hogue. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Wanda June Moore Ladd, his son and wife Gerald and Rita Ladd, his daughter Doris Walker and his son-in-law William Guy Hogue, III, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Roy made it his life mission to out-give God, share his testimony of God's love with everyone he met and to be sure each member of his family trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior and followed Him in Baptism. Jesus was his best friend and Roy, Dad, Daddy, Pop will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main Street, Tomball, TX 77375. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Tomball, 400 W. Houston Street, Tomball, TX 77375; Dr. Russell Dilday, Bro. Nilon Elliott and Bro. Cliff Herrington will officiate.
