Roy was born in Port Arthur, Texas on February 14, 1942 to Fred and Martha Haverland Kieschnick. A valentine baby, so fitting for a man full of love and compassion for all. Roy was baptized in March 1942 and confirmed in March 1956. He enjoyed his childhood living next to the water, swimming in the waves, and playing sports. He met his wife, Nancy, of 54 years, in Fort Wayne, Indiana while attending Concordia Seminary.

His first call as pastor brought him back to Texas in Brownwood at Grace Lutheran Church serving from 1969-1971. His second call moved the family, now with daughter Rachel in tow, to Springfield,Illinois where he served as pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church from 1971-1974. God knew Roy was a Texas boy through and through so he accepted a call to pastor at First Lutheran Church in Lufkin, Texas serving from 1974-1978. Seth completed the family unit in Lufkin. The family moved again when God called Roy to serve at Trinity Lutheran Church in Klein, Texas, where he served faithfully for 29 years from 1978-2007.

Roy loved fellowship, family, food, and fun. His favorite times were sitting around the table enjoying a meal and conversation. His listening ear and wise council brought peace to many. He trusted in the Lord to guide decisions and provide a means in all circumstances. He was a devoted husband, loving father, supportive grandfather, and friend to countless others. His joyful smile and laugh could light a room.

Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Martha Haverland Kieschnick, brothers, Delward Kieschnick and Lloyd Kieschnick, and sister, Doris Kieschnick.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness to his wife Nancy Pitser Kieschnick, his daughter Rachel Rosado and husband, Andres, and son Seth Kieschnick and wife, Rozlynn. Grandchildren: Austin Litzler, Alejandro Rosado, Avery Rosado, Henry Kieschnick and Samuel Kieschnick.
