Rosemary Zgrabik Goebel, born January 13, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025 in Houston, Texas.
Rosemary dedicated more than 30 years to the Katy Independent School District's Food Services Division, where she was known for her unwavering work ethic, warmth, and genuine care for students and colleagues. She earned deep respect across the district, leaving a legacy of kindness, reliability, and service to others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Goebel I, and her older sisters Betty Jadrych, Dorothy Domachowski and Veronica Fath. Rosemary is survived by her children, John Robert Goebel II and Elizabeth Ann Goebel Spitler; her daughter-in-law, Rachelle Anne Goebel; and her son-in-law, Jeffery Paul Spitler. Family was at the center of her life, and she remained a steadfast source of love, humor, and support.
Rosemary had a lifelong affection for animals—often saying she hoped God would put her in charge of the zoo in Heaven one day. She delighted in crossword puzzles, kept herself always informed on current events, and believed deeply in the power of prayer. Her faith guided her, and her enduring optimism uplifted everyone around her.
A private family service will be held in her honor. Those who knew her will forever remember her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and the simple joy she brought to everyday life.
"What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love becomes a part of us." — Ralph Waldo Emerson
