Roosevelt Barden Sr. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 11th, 2016 with his family by his bedside. Roosevelt was born May 1st, 1929 to Luther Barton and Elizabeth Pugh Barton in Round Pond Arkansas. He was the oldest of five children born to this union. He attended school in Forrest City Arkansas. Roosevelt met and married Dora Mae Carruthers in Sept of 1947 and there were 8 children born to this union. He joined the US Army Services in October of 1952 and proudly served as a Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge he and his family relocated to Aliquippa, PA. He was employed by Jones and Laughlin Steel Company. He worked there until his retirement in 1986. He joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Trustee Board until he moved to Houston TX in 2006. He was preceeded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 68 years, Dora and 5 sons Roosevelt Jr (Gale), Kevin, Terry, Reggie (Sandy) and Larry Hampton. Four daughters, Brenda Alston (Robert), Gloria Bell, Deborah Jordan (Earl), Carla Sinkler and a special nephew James (Pint) Barton (Maureen). He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn a special sister in law, Arlee Barton, Gail Terry, Sandra Kemp, a brother in law Lamar Askew and a host of other loving relatives and friends
