Ronald Wayne Mitchell, 61 died Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at home after a long hard fight from complications of cancer.  Ronnie was born October 24, 1960, in Houston, Texas, the son of Donny and Patricia (Ainsworth). Mitchell.  Ronnie grew up in Salado, Texas. He played baseball and football like most boys did, His dad had greyhounds for racing, He rode bulls and had a horse named Whimper. He competed in boxing and won some Golden Gloves titles.

After finishing school in Salado, Texas, he enlisted in the US Army and was a Medical Specialist. He was stationed in Europe and traveled extensively. Also stationed with him was another Medic that he started dating, until she received orders to transfer stateside to Fort Carson, Colorado. They kept in touch but didn't think they'd see each other again. Months later Ronnie also received orders to return to the stateside as fate would have it, he would also go to Fort Carson, Colorado. They knew it must be destiny they rekindled their relationship and finally were married at the Justice of the Peace in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He married Denette Busch on June 5, 1982, the first time they planned for a real wedding, and got married again on September 4, 1982, in his hometown at the Salado Park Pavilion with family and friend's wedding dress and tux flowers the whole deal. At the end of their tour, they both discharged honorably.

They decided to settle in Salado and had the first of three boys Shannon Wayne, on January 27, 1984, then another Dustin Duane, on March 13, 1987, and the third Layton Gene on November 14, 1989, He traveled following his trade He had started his own company Mitchell Brothers and Son's Tile with brother Donnie Mitchell and Sons, a lot of work in Houston, he moved the family there. He coached all the boys in playing baseball and traveling in tournaments and they played football, and he built ramps and rails when they got interested in rollerblading and skateboarding.

He loved to compete by throwing horseshoes and darts and playing for his neighborhood bar The Parrot Pub.   He had so many wonderful friends there, all supportive and caring. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. He loved fishing and collecting old coins and sports memorabilia.  He had chickens and ducks and had a garden every year. He loved Classic Hot Rods and still has a 69 Mach 1 in the garage. He was a Christian and believed the best way to serve him was to feed the hungry, give to the poor Stand up against the bullies and the unjust.  He worked hard and gave 100% to anything he was doing. Although he could be brutally honest at times, he was outspoken and needed to express his opinion.

He was predeceased by both parents, Donny and Patricia Mitchell, his Father-in-law Dennis Busch, and his son, Shannon Wayne.  He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Denette, and sons Dustin (Celeste) and Layton (Ashlee). His brother Donald and sister Kathy Ingle, mother-in-law Mary Hogan, Rebecca Busch, brother-in-law, Scott Busch, and Brennan Busch. Grandchildren Brooklynn Mitchell Zaragoza, Braeden Mitchell, Presley, Vera, Shyanne and Everlee Mitchell.  Aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and so many friends he will be missed dearly.
