Obituary

Ronald Terry Jones, aged 68, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on February 24th, 2023, at 11:30 p.m., surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 18th, 1954, in San Francisco, California, to his late parents, Vernon Virgil Jones and Elizabeth Ann Jones.

Terry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Deborah Kay Jones, whom he married in 1974. Together, they raised three sons: Christopher Ryan Jones, Matthew Randall Jones, and Timothy Alan Jones, and later added his daughters-in-law to the family, Shannan Jones and Kelsi Jones. Terry was a proud and loving father who supported his sons through all of their life's endeavors.

Terry had four brothers, Vernon Jones Jr. (deceased), Donald Jones, Randy Jones, and Ricky Jones, and sisters-in-law Reba, Arlene, Lisa, and Melissa, respectively, who all survive him. He was a cherished brother and uncle to many nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his immediate family, Terry is survived by his four grandchildren: Rylee, Aaron, Cooper, and Parker Jones. He was deeply loved by his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them.

Terry was a dedicated healthcare professional, having worked for over 40 years as a Registered Nurse. In earlier years, he served on the surgical team that implanted the first total artificial heart under Dr. Cooley before finding a passion advocating for patients through hospital bill auditing. Terry eventually returned to active practice specializing in Vascular Access. He eventually retired from Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he made a significant impact on the lives of many patients and their families. He was highly respected and regarded by his colleagues, who considered him an expert in his field.

Terry was an active volunteer in his community and was particularly dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America. He spent many years as a Unit Leader, Scoutmaster, District Committee Member, District Commissioner, Cubmaster, and Den Leader, among other positions, leading and mentoring young boys and instilling in them the values of teamwork, leadership, and service. Terry's love for scouting was also shared with his sons and he cherished the time spent with them on camping trips, teaching them valuable life skills, and creating lifelong memories. His passion for scouting left an indelible mark on the lives of countless young men, and he will be remembered as a positive role model and mentor to many.

In his free time, Terry enjoyed working on pottery using ancient techniques, watching Auburn football ("WAR EAGLE"), spending time with his family, and playing video games with his brother and sons. He will always be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his sense of humor, and his love for his family.
