Obituary

Ronald Douglas Glover, Sr., age 75, gained his heavenly wings on Tuesday morning, April 18, 2023. He was surrounded with family and loved ones during those final days.

Ronald Douglas Glover, Sr., known as Ron or Ronnie, was born in Washington D.C. and was the first of eight children born to Hazel Mae Herndon and Lloyd Charlie Glover, Sr. Ron had four brothers and three sisters. After moving to Richmond as a child, he graduated from Armstrong High School in 1965 and joined the United States Air Force in 1970. He re-committed his service to our country a few years later which afforded him the opportunity to be stationed all over the world including the US, the UK and Japan.

Ron is the proud father of eldest son Ronald Douglas Glover, Jr., son Darrell Lamont Glover, daughter Courtney Loyd Glover, and daughter Bridgett Le Blanc.

Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1992, Ron began his journey as a civilian and later met his ride or die soulmate, Gwendolyn Foster Glover. They married in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 31, 1999, and moved to Tennessee and Pennsylvania where they enjoyed family and made lifelong friends.

In 2012, Ron and Gwen relocate to Houston, Texas putting him closer to his son Ronnie, Jr. and his daughter, Courtney, who was expecting her first child (Chloe). Ron was there from the first day of Chloe's life and they had a very special bond.

Ron enjoyed parties, hanging out with family, playing cards and having a great time. He was the life of the party and always had a special outfit for every occasion. Ron was the master of storyteller and was filled with history and facts on all things. Ron loved music which became inspiration to his son Darrell's love of hip-hop.

Ron was preceded in death by his handsome father, Lloyd Charlie Glover, Sr., three brothers, Lloyd Charlie Glover, Jr. (Clipper), Steve Elliot Glover (Stebo), Tony O'Neal Glover and one sister, Janice Glover Carter, his ex-wife Deborah Glover, and wife, Marva Graham Glover.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Gwen Glover; his children Ronnie Glover, Jr., Darrell Glover (Miranda), Courtney Glover (Cedric Hughes), and Bridgett Le Blanc (Nicole); his grandchildren Sharon Glover, Denzel Glover, Trinity Glover, Chloe Hughes and great grand-child, Frankie Glover; ex-wife, Sandra Kay Glover, his faithful mama, Hazel Herndon Glover; one brother, Lester B. Glover (Renee); two sisters, Cathy Blue Nicholas (Tony Ward) and Alice Mae Brinkley (Ray). Lastly, he is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many cousins and a host of other friends, neighbors and co-workers.

May he rest in peace.
