Ronald Wayne Gatewood, 88, of Magnolia, Texas, passed from this life on May 1, 2024.  He was born on March 12,1936 to the late Edward and Grace Gatewood in Houston, TX.

Ronald attended Jeff Davis High School, Houston Texas. He served in the U. S. Army from 1959 to 1961.  Subsequently, became a member of Painters Union Local 130 in Houston, working on numerous commercial buildings and private residences.  Ronald had a lifelong love of fishing with both his father and friends.  He retired in 1998 with the slogan, "retired not looking for work", but despite his retirement slogan, Ronald took on the challenge of General Contractor, at age 72, hired sub-contractors, and built a beautiful home in Magnolia, Texas for him and his wife, that he was very proud of.  Proving it is never too late to have a second career.  However, what Ronald was most proud of was his family that he loved very much.

Those left to cherish his memories are Barbara Byrd Gatewood, wife of 65 years; Daughters - Deanne Gatewood Box and Annette Gatewood Thomas; Son-In-Law, William Thomas, Jr; Grandchildren - Sarah Dunlap, Jessica Thomas, Hayden Box, Katherine Melgar, and five Great Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by Edward and Grace Gatewood, Parents; and Kenneth Gatewood and Robert Gatewood, Brothers.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 9,2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home-Magnolia. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 10,2024 at 10:00 am at Klein Memorial Park-Magnolia.
