Ronald F. Culp died peacefully on February 21, 2022, at the age of 72. He was born on
November 22, 1949, in Baltimore, MD, the son of wonderful parents James and Norma Culp.
He grew up in nearby Catonsville, MD where he attended St. Mark School and Mt. St. Joseph
High School. Ron attended the University of Maryland in College Park and was a member of Pi
Kappa Alpha Fraternity where he served as President for his last three semesters. Following
graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves in the Medical Corps as a Neuropsychiatric
Medic.
He married his college sweetheart and the love of his life, Midge. They were 6 months short
of celebrating their 50th anniversary. He enjoyed traveling, sailing, and his beach condo in
Galveston. Ron was an active participant in all three children's activities. One of his favorites
was the YMCA Indian Guides and Princesses programs.
Ron enjoyed a successful career in the water treatment industry for over 50 years. After
moving to Houston in 1982, he eventually became a founder of Hartwell Environmental Corp.
and watched it grow into a great organization. He cherished the many friends he made along
the way.
Ron was an active participant in three Episcopal churches over the years. He served on three
vestries- St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church (Baltimore), St. Mary's (Cypress) and Church of
the Good Shepherd (Tomball).
Following his retirement, he was stricken with two progressive diseases, pulmonary fibrosis
and inclusion body myositis. Both diseases had a profound effect on his ability to travel and
lead an active life. Despite these obstacles, he carried on as the greatest husband, father,
grandfather, brother, and friend that any of us could ever have.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie "Midge" Culp, son Wilson Culp and his wife Yeisha
(children Jacquelyn and Bryce), son Timothy Culp, and a daughter Marjorie "Molly" Hofrichter
and her husband Marc (children James and Lida). He is also survived by three brothers James
(wife Susan), Clark (wife Brenda) and Thomas (wife Linda), their families and many awesome
cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd in Tomball, TX, tentatively in
May. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mt. St. Joseph High School
(Baltimore, MD), Good Shepherd Episcopal Church (Tomball, TX), or the charity of your choice
