Ronald Joseph Albrecht, lovingly known as Ronnie, passed away on September 5, 2026. Born on July 23, 1941, in Bexar County near Selma, Texas, Ronnie was the son of Felicitas “Fey” Albrecht and Milton Albrecht.

Ronnie attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Selma through eighth grade, then continued his education at Central Catholic High School and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics.

On May 26, 1964, Ronnie married the love of his life, Shirley Marckwardt, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in San Antonio. Soon afterward, he was deployed to Korea. He served his country as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Artillery in Korea and at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from March 1964 to 1966.

After his military service, Ronnie and Shirley settled in Irving, Texas, where he built a career as a computer consultant with Burroughs Corporation which became Unisys. They returned to San Antonio in 1976 with Ronnie’s career and lived there until 2012, when they made the joyful move to Houston to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Ronnie’s greatest joy was his family. Throughout their 62 years of marriage, Ronnie was deeply devoted to Shirley, and the two were rarely apart, always enjoying each other’s company. He and Shirley were blessed with three children: Kelley Montgomery and her husband, David; Ryan Albrecht and his wife, Mathelda; and Sheri Howard and her husband, J. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Pierce Montgomery, Merritt Montgomery, Nicolas Albrecht, Mateo Albrecht, Cole Howard, and Elle Howard.

Ronnie enjoyed golf, nine-pin bowling, and gardening, but family was always at the heart of his life. He could be counted on for every soccer game, family road trip, and apartment move. After relocating to Houston, he was often found lending a hand with a home or car repair—skills he had mastered—or sharing coffee on the porch with his children and talking about life.

Ronnie will be remembered for his steady presence and deep devotion to those he loved. His family is profoundly grateful for the many years shared with Ronnie. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
