Obituary

Roma Julia (Scatko) Cox, 92, of The Woodlands, Texas passed away Monday, May 9, 2016, at home, with her family by her side. Roma was a faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where she was active in the Senior Pals. She also played bridge, and she loved to travel. During her life, she lived in New York City, New York, Atlanta, Georgia, Buffalo, New York, and Dallas, Texas, before settling in The Woodlands, Texas to be near her daughter, Barbara. She was born on September 5, 1923, in Utica, New York, the daughter of the late Stanley and Mildred (Koscinski) Scatko. On May 6, 1944, she married the late John F. Cox and together they had three children. They were married for 43 years, prior to his passing in 1988. Roma is survived by her children, Lawrence (Cary) Cox, The Colony, Texas, Barbara (Steve) Beale, Montgomery, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Maria Cox, Westlake, Ohio; her grandchildren, Lindsay Walter-Cox, Christopher (Brandy) Beale, Katherine (Anthony) Phillips, Joshua Walter-Cox, John Beale, Susan (Griffith) Millhouse, Mary Beale; her great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Josephine Phillips; her siblings, George Scatko, Eugenia (Stanley) Podzielinski, Rita (Donald) Rosinski; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Steve Cox in 1985. A funeral Mass for Roma will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 7801 Bay Branch Drive, The Woodlands, Texas. Reverend Thomas Rafferty will preside. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas.
