Obituary

Roland Alfred Rinn was born on April 14, 1921 to Alfred and Mary Rinn in Haskell County, Texas, their second child and son.  Roland attended local schools and upon graduation worked in a local bank, which was robbed at gun point.  When World War II was declared Roland enlisted in the United States Navy and began flight training.  While still a cadet he married Alvina Kainer in Abilene, Texas on January 16, 1943.  The couple had three sons. Roland served as a Navy pilot during World War II and in 1952 was recalled to service during the Korean Conflict. Roland left the Navy with the rank of First Lieutenant.  He was employed in the financial industry and advanced in his career, retiring as Vice President of Commercial Lending after 25 years.  During their many relocations Roland was active in church serving on governing councils and financial oversight, and teaching youth classes. Roland was a caring father, loving husband and good neighbor. Alvina and Roland celebrated 78 years of marriage on January 16. Alvina died on November 18 and Roland followed her in death the following night.  He is survived by sons Ronald (Cinde) Rinn of Advance, NC, Chuck (Linda) Rinn of Magnolia, TX, Gary (Diane) Rinn of Freeport, TX as well as nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He and Alvina will be interred in the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
