In Loving Memory of Rohnald Otto Kittel

June 1, 1945 – June 2, 2026

Rohnald Otto Kittel, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 81.

Rohn was born on June 1, 1945, in Astoria, Oregon, to Hans Karl Kittel, who emigrated from Leipzig, Germany, and Betty Jeune Walsh, who preceded him in death. As the son of a Navy serviceman, he spent part of his childhood in Hawaii before growing up in El Cajon, California.

Throughout his life, Rohn embodied hard work, honesty, loyalty, and devotion to family. He earned the respect of those around him through his determination, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Even when he had little, he was always willing to share what he had with others.

Rohn was, above all else, a devoted family man. His children were the center of his world, and he was unwavering in his commitment to their well-being and success. Whether attending school events, sporting competitions, celebrations, or simply showing up when they needed him most, he did whatever it took to ensure they were cared for, supported, and given every opportunity to thrive. His love was steadfast, his guidance constant, and his dedication to family never wavered.

From an early age, Rohn possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and a remarkable work ethic. Growing up in El Cajon, California, he was always finding ways to earn a dollar, whether selling eggs, delivering newspapers, shining shoes, selling mistletoe door-to-door, or taking on countless other jobs. That drive stayed with him throughout his life. What began as a hardworking young man determined to succeed eventually led to the creation of a successful plumbing business in Texas. Even after retirement, he continued building new ventures in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Those who knew him best often said the same thing: Rohn never slowed down.

He also cherished the friendships he built throughout his life. Some of his happiest moments were spent gathered around a table sharing a meal, telling stories, laughing with friends, or simply enjoying each other's company. He had a way of making people feel welcome and carried a deep sense of responsibility to care for those around him. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, or provide support when it was needed most.

Rohn made his home in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where he embraced the beach lifestyle he had always loved. Though he enjoyed life by the sea, he frequently traveled back to Houston to spend cherished time with his children and grandchildren. No matter where life took him, he always found his way back to the beach.

He will be remembered for his humor, wisdom, compassionate nature, generosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and the relentless love he showed those closest to him.

Rohn is survived by his children, Amy Casanova, Dawn Chamorro, and Justin Kittel and wife Saundra; his beloved grandchildren, Jacob Reed, Tristan Chamorro, and Dean Chamorro; his brother, Bob Kittel; and his sister, Nalani Kittel.

Though his family will deeply miss his stories, laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love, they take comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the countless memories shared around dinner tables, at family gatherings, on fishing trips, and at the racetrack. Those moments, and the lessons he passed along, will be cherished by family and friends for generations to come.

He lived life on his own terms, worked hard for everything he built, loved his family fiercely, and leaves behind a legacy of strength, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love that will continue to guide those who knew and loved him.
