Roger Ross went peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on September 23, 2024, in Spring, Texas, at the age of 71. He was born on September 17, 1953, in East Lake, Ohio, to parents Colleen and Bob Ross.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Karen; children, Robert, Steven, Ann, granddaughter Heidi, and his two brothers, Kurt and Mike Ross.
First and foremost, Roger loved to brag about his kids to everyone. He was so proud of all their accomplishments in life. While they were growing up, Roger was actively involved in many of the activities they loved. He would take them on camping, hiking, and fishing adventures. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years, a leader in Girl Scouts, a youth soccer coach, and a soccer announcer for many girls' soccer games at Klein Oak High School. He also enjoyed all the time he got to spend with his beautiful granddaughter Heidi, going on many adventures in Texas and Montana. He was a devoted husband and father who always made time to be present in their lives despite working many hours to support them.
His wife Karen was the most important thing in his life. In his own words, "It took a strong and loving woman to put up with me for 50 years, and Karen was the one." It was clear to everyone how much he loved her. In retirement, they bought a Coleman B-17 camper, and he and Karen enjoyed traveling around to many Texas State parks together.
Roger never met a stranger his whole life. He engaged in conversation with anyone he saw, and he knew how to make people smile. He worked for Kroger Foods for 34 years as a store manager and was always involved in community events wherever he lived. He really was a jack-of-all-trades, tinkering in his work garage on many home projects.
His love and compassion for life extended to all who knew him. Roger will be so greatly missed by his family, who loved him immensely.
For anyone who wishes to attend, there will be a memorial mass and celebration of life at 10am on October 1st, 2024 at Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Parish. 26777 Glen Loch Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381
