Rodney L. VanWinkle of Magnolia, TX passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 66 years of age. After years of battling dementia, he died peacefully with his children by his side.
Rodney was born on July 25, 1953 in Houston, TX to Evelyn Ruth VanWinkle and Carrol Denton VanWinkle.
He worked hard next to his Dad building homes from a very young age. If you asked 100 people who he was they would all tell you the same thing, he was a sweet, kind man who loved his family more than himself. He was the type of person who would go above and beyond to help and serve other people. His favorite place to relax was to sit in his rocker on the front porch and enjoy being outdoors.
He was a great Father who always put his children first and taught them many things including how to work hard, help others, and provide for those you love. He was also a loving Grandfather and a loving friend to all.
He is preceded in death by parents, Carrol Denton VanWinkle, Evelyn Ruth Payne Phillips and Elmer Phillips, brother Calvin Lee VanWinkle, and granddaughter Addison VanWinkle.
He is survived by children Kevin and Michelle VanWinkle, Leann VanWinkle and Jeffrey Scott. Grandchildren Colten Segovia, Avery VanWinkle, Jacob Segovia, Peyton VanWinkle, and Liam Segovia, brothers Edwin VanWinkle and wife Penny, Clint VanWinkle and wife Debbie, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
A celebration of life to follow at a later date.
