Robert Maxwell Wood, born February 4, 1942, in Lafayette, LA. to Mildred Saucier Wood and Clarence Claude (C.C.) Wood was reunited with his beloved mother, father, grandparents and uncle on July 23, 2026.  His maternal grandparents were Dr. Merrick Edmund Saucier and Florence Hasson Saucier of Lafayette, LA. His paternal grandparents were C. C. Wood, Sr. and Lize Elizabeth Wood of Many, LA.
Although Robert loved his native state, he also loved the state that business brought him to and resided in Houston since 1975.

Robert was an avid historian and is on film for the Louisiana State Archives website currently, having adlibbed a 3-hour session on his father's contribution to the State of Louisiana in his many years in public service.  Robert was an avid sailor, having sailed over 15,000 miles at sea throughout the 80's, crossing the Gulf of America and enjoying most of the islands of the Caribbean, all the way to Venezuela.  Being an advanced open water diver, he loved the ocean and was happiest on it.

He was a great patriot; loved this country and generously supported his candidates.  He was an active Mason of Fairbanks Lodge, a Shriner and gave generously to both Shriner's Hospitals and St. Jude.

His education was extensive but not all from his beloved LSU or USL (now ULL).  His father had a great mind and thoroughly educated his son in history, general knowledge of life as well as the art of politics. Robert's memory was admirable; being able to quote from the Constitution at will, as well as the Declaration of Independence. His sports memory of his beloved LSU and the entire SEC, as well as many other sporting events amazed many he entertained.  He could have meaningful conversations on almost any subject, so extensive was his education.

His wife of almost 60 years, Mary Etta Taylor Wood, will remember his loving smile forever and is extremely grateful for their adventures shared. She will cherish these memories forever until their reunion, by the grace of God.
