Obituary

On February 14th, 2025, Robert James Tumbleson passed from this earth to be with the angels.
He was 82 years old, born June 5th, 1942 in Jacksonville, Florida.

The family moved to Tampa, Florida when Jim, as he was called, graduated from Jesuit High
School. He attended the University of South Florida. Although he did not graduate, he was
appointed to and accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He served
aboard the U.S. aircraft carrier, The Independence. After leaving the Navy, he joined his family
in Daytona Beach, Florida. There, he met and married his wife of over 60 years, Karen. They
had 3 sons, Michael, David, and Timothy.

Before moving to Texas in 1973, Jim worked for Boeing Co. at the Kennedy Space Center
(Cape Canaveral) on the Saturn 5 rocket launch support team that put the first man on the
moon. After coming to Houston, he worked for over 25 years at Cameron Iron Works, starting on
the shop floor and working his way up to various other positions.

He loved fishing and hunting. He was an avid Astros fan, Nascar fan, and Texans fan as well.
He coached little league as a young father watching his boys play the game.

He was a gentle, loving, and kind man; a steadfast friend. He knew no strangers.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; his sons, Michael and Timothy; his seven grandchildren Taylor
Tumbleson, Tyler, Kylie, and Avery Tumbleson, Lindsie Tumbleson Swanson, James
Tumbleson, and Marissa Moyer Margolin; his sister Jayne Tumbleson Timmons; and his brother
Tommy Tumbleson.

Jim will have a military service at his final resting place at the Houston National Cemetery at a
later date for those that would like to attend.
