Robert William Tegtmeier Jr. was born on Nov 16, 1947 and passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday August 24, 2019.  Bob was the eldest of five children to Robert W Tegtmeier Sr. and Dorothy Jaster Tegtmeier in Palatine IL.  Initially, he lived with his parents and maternal grandparents in a motel they operated until they sold the motel and bought a home in town, only a block away from the other set of grandparents.  The grandparents moved to Rogers AR, a fondly remembered destination for holiday and summer vacation trips.  Called Butch by his family, he collected baseball cards, comic books, played baseball, and ice skated in the winter.  Earning pocket money by mowing lawns and caddying at the Inverness Golf Course, he remained at the house on Slade St, leaving only for his years in the Army until he married.

Bob graduated from Palatine High School in 1965 and was drafted into the Army in January 1969, where he served as a medic at Tripler Army Base in Hawaii for two years, working second shift in the ER.  Prior to and following his military service he worked for Air Systems in Wheeling IL beginning as a draftsman at age 17 and working his way up to lead the engineering department.  He spent his career working in commercial kitchen ventilation systems, culminating in owning his own manufacturer's representation agency for many years.

His love of fishing was inspired by his Grandpa Jaster, a master carpenter who built a boat, and shared with his sons.  In addition, he enjoyed music, reading, woodworking, and most of all spending time with family.

In 1975 Bob married Mary Leicht of Barrington IL and they were married for nearly 30 years.  He is survived by his children Robert W Tegtmeier III (Kim), David M. Tegtmeier (Britney), Elizabeth A. Harryman (Trent), grandchildren, Owen, Elliot, Mia, Hannah, Mackenzie, and Sarah.  Also surviving are his siblings, sister Judith Zimmer (Gary), brothers Richard (Barbara), Gary (Shawn).  He was predeceased by his parents and brother Kenneth.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Rob Tegtmeier, (706 Cortlandt St. Houston TX 77007), for a yet to be determined charity that Bob would have desired.  A private service is planned.  A noon luncheon on Sunday, Sept 1 will be held at the home of Dave Tegtmeier, 614 E Pecan in Tomball, TX.
