Obituary

Robert Leo Riemer, age 66, died January 25, he was the son of the late George H. Riemer and Marion P. Riemer.

Bob was a Fourth of July baby. He was born at his parents' home on July 4, 1954 at 250 Boonton Ave. Butler, N.J.

He attended St. Anthony of Padua parochial school and graduated from Butler High School. As a young boy he was proud to serve as an Altar Boy at St. Anthony's Catholic church. As an adult he could still quote the Latin mass responses and serving the church was a fond memory for him.

As a pre-teen he was an excellent athlete. He played on baseball teams for both the Police Athletic League (PAL) and the Tri-Boro Little League. He had a heck of a pitching arm and was also a strong hitter.

As an adult he continued to enjoy baseball, and added football and hockey to his sports favorites list. Adding to his love of sports, he was an extremely strong swimmer and was very often found doing laps at the local "swimming hole" Stonybrook Swim Club in Butler.

He garnered a fun nickname as a teenager. Like most teens he liked to sleep late (quite a lot in fact). So, his friends called him" the sleeper". We hope that this little nugget of information will bring a smile during this time of sadness.

Like his father, he was an outdoorsman and his ideal life would have been to hunt and fish while relishing the beauty in the abundance of hills, lakes and forest in the North Jersey and Upstate New York area.

Another big passion in his life was music. He was an ardent lover of Country and Blues. As a child of the 1970's his favorite bands included Canned Heat, the Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, Jimi Hendrix and B.B, King. He owned a large collection of vinyl albums and enjoyed music throughout his life.

He moved to Houston, Texas in his late twenties and lived there until his passing.

His world orbited around Katie, his daughter, who was the great light of his life. He loved and cherished her with his whole heart.

In addition to Katie, he is survived by his sister Donna Leiper, sister Paula Hero (husband Glenn), brother Bill Riemer (wife Wanda), brother Charlie Riemer (wife Susan).

Klein Funeral Home is handling his arrangements and a graveside ceremony will be held Thursday at 10:00am in Cypress, Texas.
