Obituary

On Father's Day, June 19, 2022, beloved father and husband Robert "Bob" Riedle was delivered into eternal rest surrounded by his wife, Mary; daughter, Susan and sons, Robert and Michael.

Bob Riedle's earthly journey began on February 25, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois as the son of Frank and Carolyn (Kummer) Riedle. In 1939, Bob became a big brother to James Riedle. Bob's academic life began as an elementary school student in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago and progressed to become a 1954 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. College life began at DePaul University and commenced as a Bachelor of Philosophy degree graduate of St. Bonaventure University (State of New York).

After college, Bob entered the workforce as an employee of the Inland Steel Company (Chicago). In October 1965 while attending a social mixer, Bob met his future wife, Mary Fadden. That December, the couple became engaged to be married. On August 13, 1966, the couple exchanged vows in the Sacrament of Matrimony at the Church of St. Therese of the Infant Jesus (The Little Flower), officiated by Bob's Mount Carmel high school classmate, the Rev. Andrew Dillon. Beginning in August 1967, the couple were blessed with the birth of the first of three children; daughter, Susan; son, Robert (1969), and son, Michael (1970).

During Bob's 27-year career in the natural gas industry (human resources and marketing), beginning with People's Gas Light & Coke Co. (Chicago, IL) and finishing with Kinder Morgan in 1991 (Houston, TX), the family transferred to Dodge City, KS, New Lenox, IL and Houston, TX. In 1991, Bob took early retirement, and with Mary relocated to Tampa, FL embarking on a second career in the personal lines insurance industry. While in Tampa before the couple's relocation to Ocala, FL, Bob was employed with Banker's Life and Casualty Company. Bob and Mary returned to Texas in 2009. While residing in Montgomery, Bob became a greeter/cashier at the local Walmart, until his cancer diagnosis in 2019. He enjoyed his daily interactions with fellow employees and customers who knew him as "Robert".

Together, Bob and Mary enjoyed a 13-year relationship as parishioners with St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plantersville, TX. Bob also served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and Bible study table host. Unfortunately, Bob's cancer diagnosis and the ensuing COVID pandemic prevented the couple from attending daily and Sunday Masses and serving in their other favorite church activities. A lifelong Catholic, Bob was honored to be a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus (chapters in Houston, TX and Tampa/Ocala, FL)

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Carolyn Riedle. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; daughter Susan, son Robert and his wife, Leyda, and son Michael and his wife, Lindsay.

Bob's legacy also includes his grandchildren: granddaughters, Mackenzie and Kendall, and grandsons, Trey and Quinn.

In honor of Bob's heartfelt giving spirit and in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plantersville, TX. Address is PO Box 388, Plantersville, TX 77363.
