There will be a memorial celebration of the life of Robert Ray "Mickey" Weaver at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Klein Funeral Chapel Cy Fair, 9719 Wortham Blvd. Houston, Tx 77065.

Mickey was born in Houston, Texas to Elizabeth and Robert T. Weaver. He graduated from Bellaire High School in 1963 and attended college at Stephen F Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Mickey joined the Marine Corp Reserves and trained at Camp Pendleton, California. After boot camp he returned to Bellaire and married his college sweetheart Susan Cooper in 1968.

After the Marine Corp Mickey went to work for Highlands Insurance Company as a Workman's Comp Auditor. He also worked at South East Surplus, The Hartford and Kemper Insurance where he was awarded Auditor of the Year. Mickey also formed his own company Ranger Resources.

Mickey had a great love of antique cars and had a small collection that he loved taking to car shows. You might have seen him cruising and at car shows with his little deuce coup hot rod that was painted like an old Gee Bee R2 airplane. One of his first cars was an old Model T that he would decorate before High School Football games with sayings like "Beat Lamar" on it. Another of his original cars as a young man was a 1957 Mercury that he wished he still had.

Golf was a big part of his life from a very young age until he passed. Mickey was a member at Jersey Meadow Senior Golf Association for many years. He played in all types of different tournaments and had many friends there. He also was a member of the Houston Senior Travelers Golf League.

To say Mickey was a good golfer would be an understatement.

He began playing when he broke his ankle (very badly) playing Little League baseball sliding into second base.  Since baseball was out of the question, his Mom and Dad would take him to the club with them and started him hitting balls on the driving range.  Then they would put him in a golf cart and let him learn and play with them.  Needless to say, he loved the game of golf and that was the beginning.

By the time he was a teenager, he could out drive, out putt and generally out play any adult on the course.  He entered many tournaments at the club and normally would go home with the first place trophy.  He kind of left the adults just shaking their heads.  He was a powerful player!

Mickey also loved hunting and fishing, guitars, photography and the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman for many years. He enjoyed evenings watching the sun go down at the ranch.

Mickey is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan Cooper Weaver. Son and daughter-in-law Robert Clayton "Clay" Weaver and Alisha Weaver, and grandchildren: Jack, Kate, Ben and Charlie Weaver. He is also survived by his sister Robin Bradberry and best friend hunting/golfing buddy Bill Dawkins.
