Robert James Moorman passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Friday, March 30, 2018. He was 76.
Bob was born in Middletown, OH on December 8, 1941 to James A. and Mary A. (Kellerman) Moorman. He graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in 1959. Bob earned his Bachelor of Science in General Business in 1963 from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH.
Following Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), Bob entered the Army as a Second Lieutenant on October 1964. He was promoted to Army First Lieutenant while deployed to Korea. Bob was Executive Officer of Battery B in the 44th Artillery's 6th Missile Battalion. He was honorably discharged in 1966 and awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Bob started his career at Armco Steel in Middletown. He earned his Masters in Business Administration in Advance Business Economics from Xavier. Bob married Helen in 1968 before joining the Armco International Division, which moved them to New York City and then Houston. Bob's career spanned over 50 years with extensive travel overseas. He retired at the age of 70.
Bob enjoyed country music, dude ranches, grilling, traveling to see family and friends, college football, Xavier basketball, and Houston sports teams. He was an avid reader and lover of Native American and early American history. Bob loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was always honest, and gave great guidance both personally and professionally. Bob was a longtime and active member of the Christ the Good Shepard Catholic Community. Over the years, he served as a Greeter, Eucharistic minister, and was part of 55 Plus Club, and Shepard's for Christ.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Helen I. (Somerville) Moorman; daughter, Kimberly A. Dunn, her husband, Bob, all of Houston; son, Craig A. Moorman, his wife, Leigh, of Cypress; daughter, Danielle M. Mairs, her husband, Scott, of The Colony; grandchildren: Robert, Patrick, William, and Amanda Dunn; Aidan, Bishop, and Cadence Moorman; and, Michael, and Alaina Mairs; one brother, Michael T. Moorman, of Fincastle, VA; and his stepdad, Pete Davis, of Richmond, VA.
A funeral mass was held Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11am at Christ the Good Shepherd, 18511 Klein Church Road, Spring, 77379, with Father James Burkart as celebrant and reception immediately following.
A graveside service will be 2:30pm, Friday, February 15, 2019 at Houston National Cemetery.
