Rev. Robert Lee "Prophet" Mitchell went home to receive his heavenly reward on September 1, 2016. Born on August 27, 1933 in the small town of Hornbeck, LA, Robert thrived for an amazing 83 years of life. After graduation from Hornbeck High School in 1951, he served 2 years active duty in the US Army on various military bases around the world, and an additional 6 years in the Army Reserves. On September 8, 1955, he married his true love, Grace (Sweet) Mitchell, at her home in Cleveland, TX. Upon his completion of military service, he went to work for General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC). While working full-time with GMAC, and immersed in service at Irvington Pentecostal Church, he felt a greater calling on his life that required more; therefore, he began attending classes at Texas Bible College (TBC) in Houston, TX. After a brief time of evangelistic ministry, he moved to Dayton, OH to assume leadership of Apostolic Lighthouse Church, a move that solidified his calling to preach the Gospel. In 1974, he returned to Houston, TX to pastor World of Faith Church (Stonewall Pentecostal Church), until 1993. At that time, Robert retired from pastoring a local church and began evangelizing on a global scale. He founded Helps Ministries Int'l and continued to travel the globe extensively, visiting 82 nations, meeting with dignitaries, preaching the Gospel, and building an orphanage in India. The hallmarks of his life were genuine faith in God and a genuine love of people - especially his family. Robert was the "Spiritual Grandfather" of Champions Community Church in Houston, TX, and his legacy of revival, love for people, and extravagant generosity will live on for generations.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edmund and Mattie (Duplissey) Mitchell; brothers, Thomas, Sibley, Carlton, and Earl Mitchell; sister, Jackie Morris; and grandson, Sean Austin. He is survived by his loving wife, Grace Mitchell; children, Cyndi Austin and her husband, Steve, and Robert Mitchell II and his wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Chase, Matthew, and Alisha Austin, and Madison, Meghan, and Marley Mitchell; great-grandson, Steve Michael Austin; sisters, Rose Masters and Sally Hoover and her husband, Dale; and a host of loving family members and friends all over the world.

A funeral service will be held at Champions Community Church on September 7, 2016, followed by a graveside service at Klein Memorial Park.
