Robert Anthony Melone passed away Monday, August 3, 2020, in Houston, Texas at the age of 91. Bob was born in Providence, Rhode Island, to Anthony and Winifred (Ryan) Melone on April 19, 1929. He attended La Salle Academy (high school) in Providence, and Providence College where he graduated in 1952.

Bob began his engineering career with Curtiss-Wright in Quehanna, Pennsylvania, where he met his future wife, Sylvia Gearhart. Bob and Sylvia were married on February 11, 1961, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania and moved to New Jersey when he got transferred. Bob stayed with Curtiss-Wright in Wood Ridge, New Jersey, until he retired. They lived several places in northern New Jersey, until 1995, when they moved to Houston, Texas, to be with their children and grandchildren.

Bob loved his New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Providence College Friars basketball. He was a devout Catholic, and raised his children in the Catholic traditions. He was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus and spent many hours volunteering at different events with the Knights.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia, his parents and sister, Jean Lambert. He is survived by his son, Matthew, daughter, Linda Schouten and husband Walt; grandchildren, Walter Schouten (Tiffany) and Daniel Schouten and his great-grandchildren, Henry and Noah. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Ray Lambert and Fred Gearhart, sister-in-law, Gayle Gearhart,  nephew, Michael Lambert and  nieces, Lynne Kasyan and Heather Herring.

There will be a viewing and recitation of the rosary on Thursday, August 6, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Christ The Redeemer Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Klein Memorial Park on Cypress-N. Houston
