Obituary

Robert James Mechler
August 23, 1948- September 10, 2016

Robert "Bob" Mechler grew up in Dallas TX and attended Stephen F. Austin University
(Axe 'em, Jacks!) where he earned a degree in Business and Psychology.    Shortly
after graduating college, Robert was drafted into the Vietnam War.  Though he
remained stateside during the war, it is where he met his wife Joan.  After serving
their country, he and Joan returned to Dallas where he began a career with SuperRx
Drugstores.  When Walgreen's entered the Texas market, he took an opportunity and
relocated his family to Spring TX and then onto Houston where he served as a Store
Manager for over 40 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Clara and his brother Floyd and his
wife Suzy.  He is survived by his wife Joan of 43 years; children, Jeffrey, Michael,
Catherine and his granddaughter Abigail.  He is also survived by his Brother William
and his wife Ann; niece Michelle and nephews Rusty, William Jr. and Jake.

Throughout his life he dedicated himself to family through hard work and a
determination to do what husbands and fathers do; provide a roof over his family's
head, food on the table and a love that was always present.  When he wasn't working,
he enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and loved ones.

Robert's family would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Houston Hospice for
all they do for families and specifically ours.  Their love and kindness held no
bounds.   We are truly grateful.

A Memorial Service celebrating Bob's life will be held Saturday September 24 at 1pm
at Plymouth United Church, UCC, 5927 Louetta Rd, Spring, TX
