With grace, dignity and peace, surrounded by his family, Robert Lloyd Carroll passed from this world and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on June 8, 2018 after a courageous three year battle with Leukemia.

Bob was born on his mother's birthday on August 25, 1938 towards the end of the Great Depression at his grandparents small farm in Mullin, Texas. Their home was filled with the love of his parents, grandparents Lucille (Maul) and William (Gramp) Preston and his aunts, Mary, Wilma, Georgia and Sharon and great grandfather Papa. There, his iron strong work ethic and the love of family was forged by witnessing the fruits of hard labor and the joys of his loving, hard working family.

In the early years of growing up during and after the pivotal period of World War II and in the loving care in particular of his Mama Joyce, Daddy John and Maul and Gramp, along with his brothers and sister, galvanized his love of family and country and thus guided his life moving forward. Daddy John, was a Master Sergeant in the US Army and the family moved from base to base throughout Bob's childhood. He attended 12 schools before graduating from Midland High School in 1956. He stayed in Midland and went to work as a roofer for his Grandfather and Uncle RD's company.  Bob met and married Duane Wand and a year later Caci was born. He enrolled into college at Texas Western University in El Paso (now UTEP) and studied mathematics and physics. Copia and Colton were born during this time in El Paso. Bob worked as many as three jobs concurrently while going to school full-time. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in 1965.

Mobil recruited Bob out of college as a Geophysicist and the family moved to Oklahoma City. A year later he was promoted and transferred to Shreveport, LA. His marriage ended with Duane in 1967. He went to work at Tebbie's Bowlero East as the General Manager and Partner in 1969 in order to remain close to his children. It was there Bob met June Matlock and they married on March 14, 1970.  Also in 1970, Bob accepted a position with Sangamo Weston as a district Salesman and moved to Fort Worth, Texas. In 1972, Bob and June brought Amy into the world and his family grew to six.

Bob was successful in his career with Sangamo (eventually bought by Schlumberger) and he was promoted several times and moved from Fort Worth to Arlington, Texas to Dunwoody, Georgia and finally to Houston, Texas in 1981. Bob retired from Schlumberger in 2000 after 30 years of distinguished service. He was named Salesman of the Year in 1979 and was promoted into management. He served as Product Manager and Regional Sales Manager. Bob was named Salesman of the Year again when the company eliminated their corporate policy of bestowing the honor only once to any one individual. Bob was among the first recipients to be inducted into the Southwest Electric Metering Association Ring of Honor.

Far and beyond, Bob's main passion was his family. They are where he spent his time, love and devotion throughout his life.  He was a loving husband and father. His 48 year marriage to June is an inspiration of mutual love and devotion. As a father, Bob was strict but fair and always with love had his children's best interest at heart.  He devoted his extended time off by taking his family on fun, memorable cross country road trip vacations. His family adored his west Texas influenced personality and great sense of humor and ability to 'spin a yarn' on a daily basis. He and June created a secure home filled with love and laughter. His other passions included fly fishing, golf and gardening. He loved watching animals in nature, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood western movies and sports, particularly college basketball. He was proud of his Alma Mater's legendary 1965 NCAA National Basketball Championship Texas Western Miners' team.

Bob said many times of his abundant life filled with love, family, friends, laughter, travels and adventure…'I ate all the watermelon outta that rind'.

Bob Carroll was a sweet, kind, trustworthy gentleman with loads of charisma and a memorable sense of humor.

He is preceded in death by Maul and Gramp Preston, John Gross, Copia Westbrook.

He is succeeded in life by his wife June Carroll, his mother Joyce Gross, brother John Phillip Gross and wife Elaine, brother Charles Gross and wife Ethel, sister Helen Smith and husband Ted, daughter Caci Amaral and her husband Steve, son Colton Carroll and his wife Amy, daughter Amy Maroney and her husband Mike, son-in-law Mark Westbrook, grandchildren Kellen Kochwelp, Tyler Kochwelp and his wife Nina, Travis Westbrook, Taylor Sprague and her husband Steven, Megan Maroney, Alyssa Maroney, Jackson Carroll, great grandchildren Lacy Sprague, Leah Sprague and Lily Sprague.
