Robert (Bob) Wayne Lawson, 83, of Houston, Texas, passed from this life on October 15, 2024.  He was born on September 24, 1941, to James Pony Lawson and Inez Louise Hutchins Lawson in Marked Tree, Arkansas.

Bob was the son of the late James Pony Lawson and Inez Louise Hutchins Lawson.  The family later moved to Michigan City, Indiana, where he graduated from Elston High School and later, he studied at Western Carolina College where he played basketball.   He enlisted in US Marine Corps and served from September 1967-August 1972.

He was a helicopter Gunner and served in the Vietnam War for which he received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and honorably discharged from US Marine Corps in August of 1972.

Bob was an Electrician and later became a General Contractor and owned and operated his own construction company, Lawson Construction Company, in Houston, Texas for countless years until his passing. He was very active in the business community of Houston and a generous and involved sponsor for many events specifically the Houston Rodeo and more.

Later Bob married his beloved James, and they had a wonderful life filled with great traveling and visiting with lots of family.  He and James both enjoyed sports of all kinds and attended lots of sports events.  They also enjoyed spending time with all their friends and family.

Bob aka Buddy aka Bud aka Uncle Bud was known for his BIG Heart, his kindness, his generosity, and for his deep love and loyalty to his family and friends.   He had a Great Love of Life and was always positive and upbeat! And always willing to help anyone who needed help.

He definitely didn't live in the past or dwell on it, but everyone will tell you he certainly LOVED to reminisce with his beloved siblings and all his family about the "Old Days" but always ready to make new memories too!

Bob had a Great Faith and Love for God and His Country.  He was a True Believer and a True Patriot!

Bob was always an important part of all the Lawson Family Reunions and always ready to get the next one organized!   He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, brother-in-law, and friend to all!   His Family and Friends were His Life!

Robert is survived by his 2 Beloved Sisters Jimmie Lawson Walker of Rock Hill, SC; and Joan Lawson Porter (Don) of Albuquerque, NM; and Numerous Beloved Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

He is preceded in death by James Jackson, Spouse; James Pony Lawson, Father, and Inez Louise Hutchins Lawson, Mother; Wilburn Tullis Lawson, Brother; Faye Lawson Heisman, Sister; Albert Eugene Lawson, Brother; Sue Lawson Spears, Sister.

In lieu of flowers donations are highly encouraged to be made to MD Anderson and Veteran Affairs in Bob's honor.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with a celebration of life immediately starting at 10:00 am. The service can be viewed live HERE . Bob will be laid to rest next to his loving husband following the celebration of life at Klein Memorial Park 2920.
