Obituary

Robert Mondel Klar, 88, of Magnolia,Texas, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023.

He was born on October 15, 1934, in Bradley, Illinois to Ralph and Juanita Klar.  He spent his childhood enjoying hunting and fishing . In school he played sports and was especially fond of baseball.  He often went to Wrigley Field in Chicago to see the Cubs play. He  graduated from Bradley High School and went on to serve in the US Air Force. While stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany, he met his wife of 68 years, Margret Obenhaus.  Together they raised four children: Michael, Cindy,  Anneliese, and Christa.

Upon returning to the United States, Bob went to school in Kansas City, Missouri, and studied electronic engineering. The family then moved to Denver, Colorado, for several years before moving to Houston, Texas, where he worked for NASA and then Texas Instruments.

Bob was an avid reader. He loved the Word of God, and was a lifelong student of the Bible.  He was an Elder at Zion Lutheran Church in Pasadena, Texas, and was also on the Stewardship committee.  He was the Sunday School Superintendent at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Magnolia. He also enjoyed teaching children's Sunday school class.

Bob loved all kinds of music and his children like listening to him sing, whistle songs, or play the harmonica.   He took his family to church every Sunday .   Bob volunteered at the library in Magnolia where he also taught English language classes to immigrants.

Bob and his wife Margret enjoyed over 35 years living in the house they built themselves in the piney woods of Montgomery, Texas.  Bob loved to travel. He took many trips with his wife to Europe visiting family in Germany and exploring  other countries sometimes with his children and later with grandchildren.

Bob was a loving husband and devoted father and lived a life of dedication to the Lord.

He thoroughly enjoyed raising his children and his grandchildren gave him great joy.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Juanita Klar, his sister, Phyllis Outsen, and his daughter-in-law, Marlene Klar.

He is survived by his loving wife Margret; children: Michael Klar, Cindy King and husband Bob, Anneliese Etherton and husband Dennis, Christa Klar and Scott; grandchildren: Alison Trull and husband Cory, Bobby King and Judith, Stephen King, Sara King, James Etherton, Kelly Forrest, Melinda Moran and husband Ronan, Kassi Mueller and husband Jared, Valerie Collins and husband Scott; and great-grandchildren: Harrison, James, Macy, Charlotte, Eli, Cooper, Madison, Josey, William, Braden, Emery, Lucas, and Logan.

Friends are invited to visit with the family between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, at Klein Funeral Home - Magnolia/The Woodlands, 14711 FM 1488, Magnolia. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 9, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 21088 FM 1488 Magnolia, TX 77355. Interment will follow at Klein Memorial Park, FM 1488, Magnolia.
