Bob was born December 22, 1951 in Minot, North Dakota to Kenneth Lyle & Harriet Jean Benson and passed away at his home on May 5, 2018.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bob is survived by his wife Dale Benson, daughter Bethany Taylor and her husband David Taylor; he had one granddaughter, Rachel Taylor. He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Frykman and
Throughout his life, Bob was the life of any party; there was never a dull moment when he was around. He was a fan of anything Texas Tech, which is where he attended graduate school. As a child, he pretended to be a news reporter, walking around with a microphone in hand and practicing in front of others. He later went on to accomplish that dream. He worked as a News Reporter and Weatherman in Lubbock, Texas after receiving his Masters Degree in Communication from Texas Tech. He later entered the field of education, as a professor at several Texas schools before accepting a position at Prairie View A&M University where he taught Speech and Mass Communications. Anyone who knew Bob knew that he loved wearing bright colors, crazy t-shirts, and other costumes to incorporate them into his lessons or just for fun. He was a mentor to many students and well respected by the community.
Besides his love for his family, Bob loved jogging, playing tennis, and going to movies. He enjoyed entering contests and winning prizes. He won two free vacations to Italy and trips to California and Florida and various other great prizes by entering into contests that most people wouldn't have bothered with. He also loved finding great coupons and finding great discounts and deals. If it wasn't on sale and he didn't have a coupon, he wouldn't buy it.
Bob was also a people person. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He used humor to make the world a little bit brighter for everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
