Robert Gus Jarrett passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018, in the presence of his family. Bob was born on August 24, 1933, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Rosa Barr Jarrett and William Gus Jarrett. He grew up in Bartlesville and Dewey, Oklahoma, in a loving family with 4 older sisters who doted on him. In high school, he played basketball, baseball and football, and developed a love for sports that he had for the rest of his life. After high school, he joined the Air Force and attended basic training in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was later stationed at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio and Clark Air Force Base in The Philippines as an Air Traffic Controller. After he left the Air Force, he attended the University of Oklahoma briefly before joining the FAA as a civilian Air Traffic Controller. His first job was at Hobby Airport in Houston, where he met the love of his life, Reda Mae Jackson, on a blind date. They married on August 3, 1959. They subsequently moved to Irving, Texas, where they had son Tony in 1966, and San Antonio, Texas, where daughters Shannon and Stacie were born in 1971. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Oklahoma City and then relocated back to Houston, Texas, in 1976, where he finished out his career at Bush Intercontinental Airport. Bob retired in 1988 and enjoyed spending time with Reda and his children, taking country drives, and traveling. He has been a member of Spring Baptist Church since 1976.

Bob was predeceased by his parents; his sisters and their husbands: Phyllis and O'Neil Clapp, Faye and Cotton Beard, Berniece and Harry Brown, and Jewell and Bill Lacy; and his beloved wife Reda in 2015. He is survived by his son Anthony "Tony" Jarrett and wife Liz, daughter Shannon Jarrett, daughter Stacie Jarrett Kortenkamp and husband David, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob will be remembered for being a loving father and husband, a generous spirit, a story-teller, and a humble man. He thinks he was blessed or simply lucky in meeting Reda and falling into a career that he loved, but we think he was smart, funny, determined, and made good decisions. He will be missed.
