Samuel Robert Aydelotte II, age 72, of Tomball, passed away September 1st due to complications from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He was born January 20th, 1953, in Key West, Florida to Samuel Robert Aydelotte and Erleen (Morhain) Aydelotte.

Robert is remembered by his loving wife, Belva C. Aydelotte; daughter, Jean (Chris) Hare; granddaughter, Charlotte Hare; grandson, Michael Hare; sister, Rebecca (Charles) Laird; brother, Carl Aydelotte; sister, Katherine (David) Wickersham; and sister, Caroline (Shane) Korn.

Called "Bobby" growing up, he married Belva Clare Crumbie on August 20, 1974 and remained happily married for 51 years. They started life together in married student housing on the campus of Texas A&M. After graduation, he started going by Robert as he began his career working in West Texas for Gulf Oil, then returning to A&M for his Master's degree. Robert and Belva moved to the Houston area where they lived for 48 years (excepting two years in Norway), where Robert worked for various companies, eventually retiring from ExxonMobil in 2020.

Over his career and in his spare time, he traveled to 6 out of 7 continents, and especially loved cruising Hawaii to watch whales. He enjoyed playing fantasy games with his grandchildren, hosting sci-fi watch parties with friends, and topping anything he ate with jalapeños. But most of all, he loved serving people. He was quick to lend a car or an ear, to set up a sound system, or to help someone move. He always took time to care for those who were hurting, needed a friend, or found themselves in prison, serving faithfully for years as a chaplain in the Wallace Pack Unit in Navasota until he was no longer able.

Diagnosed in 2023, Robert's battle with ALS led him toward even more new friendships and he continued to reach out to all those around him with love until he passed peacefully, surrounded by friends and family.
