Robert Norris (Bob) Hicks, a loving husband of 61 years, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, entered his eternal home with Jesus on December 1, 2023, peacefully at home with Hospice Care. Bob was born in Pittsburg, Texas (Camp County) on January 31, 1937 to Ezro and Eva Hicks who preceded him in death.  Bob was also preceded in death by his brother Ted Hicks and two sisters, Judy Hicks Insall and Karin Hicks Day.    He is survived by his wife Camille, his children Jeff Hicks and Jennifer(Troy)  Barber; three grandchildren: Kaleb(Danielle)   Goodell, Kelsey  Goodell and Kaitlyn  Goodell; and two great-grandchildren Hampton and Kirkland Goodell.   He is also survived by his sister and brother, Elise Coker and David(Liz) Hicks,  a special sister-in-law Marilyn Lamb Hamner, as well as many nephews and nieces and other family members.

Bob spent his early years in Pittsburg, Texas on a farm with his family.  It was a simple life.  Bob attended church regularly and accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior at age 15 at Matinburg Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas. Bob and Camille moved to Spring in 1968, joining Spring Baptist in 1969,.  He served there as an usher, on various committees, a deacon and an "old geezer" for many years.

Upon graduation from Pittsburg, Texas in 1955 he came to Houston and worked briefly at United Gas before starting his career at ExxonMobil for 37 years. While working he joined the 49th Armored Reserve Unit being called to 10 months of active duty in October of 1961.   He retired from ExxonMobil in 1994 and began 29 years of retirement.  In these years, he found joy in traveling with Camille, serving the church, his community, gardening, attending any and all of his grandchildren's events.  He enjoyed spending time with the "old geezers" on Thursdays where they did various projects around Spring Baptist Church followed by lunch.  He served his Lord and Savior faithfully by serving his family, his church and his community in many ways, always willing to lend a hand and be of service in any capacity he could.

Although Bob was known as a quiet man, he had a witty sense of humor and spoke many words of wisdom to his children and grandchildren.  His legacy will live on in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all have such great memories of our years with him, and while we mourn his passing, we celebrate his reunion in heaven with Jesus knowing he heard "well done my good and faithful servant." We love you, Bob Hicks, Dad and Gaw (the name his grandchildren called him).
