Robert (Bo) Harrigan, was born November 14, 1934, to John William Harrigan Sr. and Alice Myrtle Cornett Harrigan in Houston, Texas.  He passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 90 years old.

Robert was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School and attended the University of Houston majoring in business. He proudly served as a Medical Specialist in the United States Army from 1952 through 1954 as Rank Spec/4. He trained at Ft. Carson, Colorado and Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. He served in the First Cavalry Division in Korea from 1952-1953. In 1954 he served at the Army Hospital in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and was a reservist for eleven years. He counts as one of his greatest honors to have worn the uniform of the United States Army.

After returning home, he was employed by the City of Houston, Parks and Recreations, refereed numerous sports and then joined the ranks of Houston Lighting and Power as a Mapping Supervisor until retirement in 1992.

He has been a member of St. John Lutheran Church since 1995, serving on several committees, as usher, lay reader and deacon.

Robert was a gentle soul, ever so patient and mature in his faith. He was an avid reader, a student of all things history, primarily American History for which he retained a wealth of knowledge. He continued the desire to learn and read, even as his eyesight diminished due to Age Related Macular Degeneration.

Our children and grandchildren described him as a "sounding board" for our family, a go to person if you will, for advice, wisdom and the willingness to listen to concerns great and small.  He enjoyed telling stories of days gone by, ensuring that the younger generation absorbed the greatness of those times. His children, grandchildren and greats loved and respected him dearly for his understanding demeanor and calming presence.  He was a role model to them for sure.

Robert loved his Lord, St. John Lutheran Church, fellowship with his Saturday Morning Men's Bible Study Group, his devoted family and his country. He was a true patriot.

Preceded in death by his parents, John William Harrigan Sr. and Alice Myrtle Cornett Harrigan; his brother John William Harrigan Jr.; and son-in-law George William Jackson.  Robert is survived by his wife Marilyn Amarell Harrigan, his sister Ann Elizabeth Caffey, his daughter Carolyn Janiece Templet and her husband Joseph Wayne Templet, his step-son Brent Christopher Pitts and his wife Crystal Lynn Pitts, his step daughter Hillary Faye Yates and her husband Richard Talbert Yates, his grandchildren Emily Karyl Moore, Lara Ruth Jackson, Shelby Lynn Pitts, Kelsey LeAnn Pitts, Ashley Renee Yates, Megan Grace Yates, Destinee Ann Francis, R. J. Yates, great grandchildren Carlee Grace Jackson-Templet, Carter Jaymes Moore, Kase Lee Slack, Tanner Bryce Keenon, Mason Lane Culley, Colt Michael Francis, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

I will miss my beloved Bo, as my children and grandchildren will also miss him deeply. He will remain on our hearts and in our memories always, with the hope and God's promise that we will be together again.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 15235 Spring Cypress Road, Cypress, Texas, 77429, with Seth Gehrke officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM preceding the service.  Interment to follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, 19520 Lutheran Cemetery Road, Cypress, Texas, 77433.
