Mr. Robert D. Haney, 63 years of age of Tomball, Texas passed away Monday October 31,2022.

Robert, known to many as Bob or Bobby, was born in Washington Missouri on July 3, 1959, a son of the late John Sr. & Marcella (Parmentier) Haney.

Bob was raised in Union Missouri and received his schooling and education there. Bob, like his many siblings was raised on a farm and attended catholic school. Growing up on the farm and being part of a large family were some of Bob's fondest memories. Bob was infatuated with mechanical things early in his childhood and was known to take his parents precious household machinery and farm equipment apart wondering how things worked. This infatuation with mechanical things led him into the automotive industry. As a teenager Bob got his first auto mechanic job in Missouri and became known for his expertise with electrical repairs and fine-tuning ignition distributors, components, and carburetors for performance cars. He was a natural born technician and obtained his associates degree and eventually became a Master ASE Certified Technician.

At the age of 20 Bob left Missouri and moved to Texas. Bob went to work for a few different shops in Texas, one of which was Byrd Automotive. He loved his time at Byrd, making lasting friendships. However, Bob's heart never left his beloved state of Missouri. Bob would frequently visit Missouri to see his family. Bob's sister Patty was tasked with taking care of their ailing mother and Bob was her voice of strength and helped in every way he could. Bob was proud of his work as an automotive technician and would speak dearly of his accomplishments in the automotive field, the customers he had and the friends he had made along the way to his family. In 1996, Bob met Mr. Jimmy Moore of Tomball, Mr. Moore was contemplating selling his shop and soon figured out Bob's love for the automotive repair business and his enthusiasm to be his own business owner. Mr. Moore made it possible for Bob to purchase the shop, this shop became known to Tomball as Haney's Car Care.

Because of Bob's great passion for troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical concerns he became one of the first technicians in the industry to adapt digital lab-scopes and the understanding of electrical wave forms as part of his diagnostic arsenal. He became part of a small group of elite technicians across the nation utilizing the equipment and they collectively shared wave form data and developed a reference library to aid in the diagnostics of solving complex electrical problems. This was the grassroots of lab scope technology for today's diagnostics. He was known in the Tomball area as "The Automotive Guru" He took the approach with electrical and mechanical problems as if they were a puzzle and his goal was to solve those puzzles. His zest and tenacity were unmatched.

He loved to help others and was there when you needed him. Bob was always learning and experimenting, finding new interest regarding technology and how things worked. He even built his own Hydrogen system from scratch to fuel cars. Bob always had a smile on his face, was a true Christian at heart and strongly believed in the ten commandments to his core. He had a very strong work ethic and earned everything he accomplished in life. One of his happiest memories was when his family from Missouri visited Tomball, Bob was able to share his accomplishment of ownership of Haney's Automotive with them.

Bob is survived by Donnie and Ashley Cannon whom he considered his own children and his lifelong friend Glinda Cannon, his three brothers-John Haney Jr. of Union Missouri, David Haney of Denver Colorado, Kevin Haney and wife Stacy of Washington Missouri, three sisters, Debbie Nicks and husband Lauren of Beaufort Missouri, Patty Rogers of Rosebud Missouri, and Chris Jokerst and husband Mike of Foley Missouri: and many nieces and nephews. Bob also leaves behind longtime friend/brother Tim Wijt of Byrd Automotive and employee/friend/brother Robert Donaldson whom for over twenty years developed a true friendship not only based on a passion for the automotive repair business but also love, compassion, and respect for one another. Bob also leaves behind the many customers and friends he admired so much. Bob truly lived his life with passion and abundant love for others. Bob left us early, but his impact on all our lives will be forever and ever. Bob would not want anything less than each of us rejoicing in the special memories we all have who knew him.
