Obituary

Robert James (Bobby) Fitzgerald passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024. He was born in Houston, Texas, on December 15, 1959, to Eugene Fitzgerald and Josephine Wetuski Fitzgerald.

Growing up on the southeast side of Houston, Bobby attended St. Augustine Catholic School and Mt. Carmel High School. Initially, Bobby was not interested in attending college. However, after his mother arranged a job for him at PepsiCo through a friend, he quickly realized that moving pallets of soft drinks in the hot summer heat of Houston was quite challenging. This experience led him to pursue higher education. Bobby attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree in May 1982.

Upon graduation from Texas A&M, Bobby worked for several architectural firms in Houston. After gaining the required work experience, he passed the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners' challenging examination and became a licensed architect in September 1990.

Bobby started his own architectural business and continued practicing until his passing. He designed many custom homes and apartment projects throughout the United States. His passion for design and creating livable environments was a central goal in his life.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Josephine Wetuski Fitzgerald; his brother, Ronald Eugene Fitzgerald; his niece, Jessica Rachel Fitzgerald; and his life partner of 27 years, Linda Hagan. He is survived by his brother, Larry Wayne Fitzgerald; his nieces, Elissa Michelle Mazza and her husband, Brian Mazza, and Kristina Brooke Baldridge and her husband, Noah Baldridge; his great-niece, Harper Rose Mazza; as well as several cousins and friends.

Bobby was a free-spirited individual. He enjoyed going to the beach, shooting sports, sports cars, visiting casinos, bowling, and exploring conspiracy theories. He embraced life fully, from dressing up as Santa to entertain family and friends to designing and building lawn ornaments for various holidays. He was especially fond of Halloween and took great pleasure in decorating and creating his own costumes.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Lauren Beliveau for his help and assistance during Bobby's final months.
