Obituary

Robert "Bob" Holden Ferriman, 83, of Spring, Texas passed away July 15, 2023.  Robert was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on November 9, 1939, and passed away in Houston, Texas on July 15, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Nancy Sue Ferriman; he and Nancy had been married for 47 wonderful years. Also preceded in death his first wife Patricia Margaret Ferriman, his daughter, Ronda Sue Mashburn; and his parents, George and Jane Ferriman.

Robert is survived by his children, Elisa Hall, Kimberly Ferriman Johnson, Audrey Hall Tidwell, and John Holden Ferriman; grandchildren, Elisabeth Harrison, Clifton Hale, Michael Tidwell, Jr., Dorothy Jean Tidwell, Charlie Tidwell, Zoe Johnson, Alex Johnson, and Emily Cameron; sixteen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Carole Swickard and Michael Orlen Ferriman.

Robert was an Air Force Veteran. He received The Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service while serving in Southeast Asia in 1967.  After serving his country Robert came to Houston, Texas and worked in sales for The American Can Company.  He would later start a second career in Landscaping and then became a Master Gardener and developed an Organic Vegetable Farm. In 2009, Robert developed the organic practices at KGF and received organic certification for produce grown at the farm which lead to The Synergy Award in 2009 from Citizens Environmental Collation given to Keating Grove Farms for organic farming.

Robert was a very active member of The Rotary in Tomball, Texas.  He was active in The Youth for Understanding program in the 80's and 90's, which is a foreign exchange program.  He and Nancy hosted many exchange students over the years.  These students became family and are still in contact today. With his work in The Rotary in Tomball, he received several times Man of the Year.

Robert was active in Cub Scouts, Future Farmers of America.  With his love of God and landscaping he designed the original outdoor chapel at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Tomball.  Robert served on the vestry twice, Jr. Warden 1987.  In 1998 became a lifelong volunteer with CanCare.  Education was very important to him and he would mentor at Decker Prairie Elementary.

Robert will be deeply missed by his family and many dear friends.  He never forgot all of the people that cared for him and loved him.

Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375. A funeral service for Robert will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 715 Carrell St, Tomball, TX 77375. He will be laid to rest with his wife in Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
