Obituary

Robert Scott Duvall, 71, of Houston, Texas, passed away on November 18, 2024. He was born on March 16, 1953, to Robert "Bob" Richardson Duvall and Bobbie Ruth Massengale in Fort Worth, Texas.

Growing up in Houston, Scott attended Waltrip High School, where he met his future wife, Juliana Claiborne "Clai" Ashton. They married on September 1, 1979.

Scott was creative, resilient, and compassionate. Above all, he was a man of God and a devoted father, always active in his children's lives. Scott taught them the importance of faith in God and the grace of forgiveness.

He was the family chef, cooking elaborate, delicious meals without a recipe—and the family medic, gently removing every splinter and applying every band-aid. Scott was also the in-house author, often taking days to sign a birthday card, making sure the message was heartfelt, thoughtful, and somewhat of a mini masterpiece.

Those who will cherish Scott's memory include his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Clai Duvall; son and daughter-in-law, Spencer and Shanel Duvall; daughter and son-in-law, Sophie and Konrad Zielonka; grandchildren, Liliana, Everest, Theodore Duvall, and future grandchild, Leah Zielonka; brothers, Shane Duvall and Stewart Duvall; and mother-in-law, Liz Ashton.

Scott is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shelley Duvall; and father-in-law, Tom Ashton.

"He did not waver in unbelief at God's promise but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, because he was fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform."

Romans 4:20–21 (HCSB)

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, December 7th, at Christian Family Church, 5615  Queenston Blvd, Houston, TX 77084.
