Robert "Bob" Dale Koester was born in Red Bud, Illinois on September 17, 1940, and passed away in Magnolia, Texas on August 18, 2022.

Bob was passionate about life and all he did , from his long career as a metallurgist to his decades of long-distance running and later cycling, to his faithful worship and service to the Lord . He loved being outdoors , his cars, working on his property, pecan s in his pancakes, Ohio State football, recording the last or planning the next Katy Trail bike ride across Missouri with his brother and nephews, and most of all, his family.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of more than 58 years, Patricia Ann Koester; his children, Jeffrey Koester and wife Sherri of Humble , Texas; Kristin Weitzel of Cypress , Texas; an d Stacy Austin and husband Rick , of Cypress, Texas ; his grandchildren, Jeremy Koester, Ethan Koester, Kylie Austin and Alex Weitzel ; siblings, Gertrude Helmers, and Richard Koester and wife Geralyn n ; nephews, Lance Koester, Darren Koester, Jason Koester and John Helmers ; and numerous other loving f amily and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Thea Koester , his son-in-law Dale Weitzel and his brother-in-law Edgar Helmers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 27 at St. John Lutheran Church, Cypress. The family will receive visitors at 9:30 a.m. The service will be live streamed at stjohn@tv on either Facebook or YouTube.

Should friends desire , memorial gifts may be made in Bob's name to St. John Lutheran Church , Our Savior Lutheran Church or the C.F. Lewis Memorial Scholarship through ASM International's Houston Chapter .
