Obituary

Robert H. Cook, 66, of Houston died unexpectedly of heart disease Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019.
He was born Jan. 24, 1953, in Lima, Ohio, the son of Robert E. and Betty J. (Gaugh) Cook. He graduated from Bath High School in Lima in 1971; he then attended Bowling Green University for two years.
In 1974, Rob moved to Houston, where he later met his future wife, Rose Scott of Middleville, Michigan. They were married in Houston on Nov. 30, 1985, and raised three wonderful sons: Cody, Dillon and Cory.
He was a retired general contractor specializing in home remodeling. Away from work, he enjoyed playing golf, cooking, being with people, and taking his boys fishing. He was a devoted and loving dad.
He was active in the Knights of Columbus, which he joined in 2009, and progressed through the ranks before serving as Grand Knight from June 2013 to May 2014.
Rob was just as comfortable holding a baby as he was handling a spatula as he tended a grill, making his secret-recipe burgers.
He was cheerful, easygoing and laid-back. It didn't take much to make him smile. He was quick to put an arm around a friend or family member in comfort or in fun, sometimes chuckling, sometimes commiserating and sometimes adding a playful comment.
Family vacations often were trips to Michigan in the summer to visit Rose's extended family, where he was welcomed as a beloved uncle and brother-in-law.
Rob was predeceased by his parents, brother, Bill; his in-laws Harry and Pat Scott, and earlier this year, brother-in-law, Mike Scott.
In addition to his wife, Rose; sons Cody, Dillon and Cory; he is survived by brothers Rick (Maria) Cook of Houston, and Dave (Bobbi) of Arizona; brothers-in-law Bill (Barb) Scott, and Dave (Teri) Scott; sisters-in-law Terri (Larry) Etter, Kathy (Tom) Maurer, and Laura Scott, all of Michigan; 17 nieces and nephews; two great-nephews and two great-nieces.
Vigil and Rosary will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Klein Funeral Home in Klein, Texas. A mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Spring, Texas.
Donations may be sent to the American Heart Association. A GoFundMe page also has been set up under "funeral expenses for Robert Cook" to pay for medical and funeral expenses.
