Robert (Bob) was born in Cameron, TX. He was the first born of five children of which four were girls. He graduated from Katy High School where he played basketball. Bob attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University where he was class President. Bob met Shirley Kuchera as an acquaintance while attending Southwestern. He went on to Texas A & M and graduated with a degree in Industrial Technology. This is Where he spotted Shirley Kuchera in a car with her boyfriend who he stole her away from. They were married and inseparable for 59 years until Shirley went to be with the Lord. Bob loved looking at and talking about cars. He had a passion for music and enjoyed leading song service and attending gospel singings all over Houston. Bob would often call friends and let them know about the next Gospel Singing he would be attending and give them an invite to join. He spent many Monday evenings after dinner taking Sandra to 1 ½ hour piano lessons an hour away from their home. He made sure she was taking from a highly proficient piano teacher who was an adjunct professor for University of Houston. Bob and Shirley were actively involved in church and were there every time the doors were open. Bob served as deacon/trustee for many years. The Burnette family tradition was to read the Christmas story from the Bible and sing Carols around the piano.
