Robert "Bob" James Boren, passed away on Sat., May 14, 2016 at home at the age of 91 and 8 months. He always laughed about his Mom giving her age in years plus months so he began to do the same. He was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Stockton, Calif. After graduation from High School, Bob enrolled in medical school at the Univ. of Calif. Berkley for two yrs. before he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. After the WWII, he enrolled in Texas Tech Univ., graduating with high honors with dual degrees in Petroleum and Civil Engineering. He accepted a job as a Petroleum Engineer the same day he graduated and stayed with the same job his entire career even though the company was sold multiple times. They always kept Bob employed, even after his retirement, because of his loyal and dedicated work ethic. He was very proud of his years in the oil industry. After meeting and marrying a Texas girl, he became a true Texan, but never lost his love of Calif. family. Bob was a kind man who enjoyed his years as a faithful Bammel Rd. Church of Christ Elder and greeter.

While Bob was not one to play board games, he was a master at the game of finding the best deal, be it on toothpaste or island cruises. He and Betty did love to cruise! She always said when he found a good deal, she could be packed and ready to go in 10 minutes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Greetice Boren, brother, Tommy Boren, sister, Helen Shepherd. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Boren, and second wife, Betty Kinsey Boren, step-son, Ronnie Kinsey and grandson, Cody Kinsey.

He is survived by his daughter Jeanette Lyons (Joe), step-son, K. DeWayne Kinsey (Leslie), 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Klein Funeral Home located at 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Houston, TX. The funeral will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2016 in Bammel Rd. Church of Christ chapel located at 2700 FM 1960, Houston, TX. Burial will be Friday, May 20, at 1 p.m. in the Hill Country Memorial Gardens, New Braunfels, TX.
